Today Michael and I had a meeting with Phil from the Enterprise Team based in the Duke of York Entreprenure Centre (DOYEC), in the the 3M Bucklye Innovation Centre, to discuss relooking at the working space. When speaking to Jo last week I asked if we could do a real business so that we have real parameters and real users we can speak to. Today's meeting was to check this would be ok with the Enterprise team and to see what they thought.
Phil loved the idea and as I suspect, having done an Enterprise Placement Year in the space, they are very open to any suggestions on making the space work better for the various businesses who use it and would also find any research and insights we gather useful.
In our meeting, I took notes on key points and Michael recorded us. We learned that the furniture and Orangebox Pod is actually owned by the 3M, not the university, and there may be an issue with changing it or an additional cost to add into calculations for the removal of any new furniture or reversal of changes at the end of the Enterprise's tenancy. We also learned that the space directly above the DOYEC has recently been refurbished by the 3M BIC to create an open plan office space.
