I thought I'd share a little something I've been working on as I haven't posted in a while. Meet my buddies Hare and Bear!
This time next month, I will be jetting off to join a group of amazing artists and designers to take part in a Trade Show, Surtex and boy, am I excited! The last time I was in New York I attended a similar show, Printsource and it was a turning point in my career. This will be my first time at Surtex, so I'm a little nervous of the unknown, but I'm sure it will be an equally wonderful experience. Here is my press pack, a little taster of the work I'll be taking to the show.
In preparation for exhibiting at the show, I have been designing new surface patterns so I'm going with my new and exclusive work! As the countdown begins, my to do list continues to grow. I'm working on little goodies and takeaways for guests, printing, oh and I can't forget my sightseeing list too!
Here I am freezing on Brooklyn Bridge. Fingers crossed I'll get some nice weather this time round :)
Drum Roll please... The ArtLicensingShow.com is all set to open its virtual doors today at 2pm EST 6pm GMT and I cannot wait!
This exciting new site is a place for Art Licensors and Art Licensees to connect in a safe and secure environment, ensuring that fantastically designed products make it to the shelves.

I must admit, I am a bit of a notebook hoarder! I like to be surrounded by beautiful things to look at and I expect functional items to be just as pretty as anything else. I find a pretty collection of sketchbooks, boxes and folders in my work space cheers things up and keeps me inspired, so that's how I justify my insane (and very pretty) mad of stationery!
I created this capsule collection of notebooks with this in mind. A portable slice of lushness to carry around and transport your ideas and thoughts within.
One of my key brand goals is to create patterns and designs which give people the same uplifting feeling I get when I'm surrounded by lovely things. Hence my tag line, Happy Surface Design :)
One of my favourite things to do is mockup products using my surface patterns to see what they would look like "in the flesh" so to speak! It gives me the chance to check the scale and balance of my design and also give clients a good ideas of how the end product could look.
Here's my Flutter By Butterflies print from my Full Bloom Collection, in cushion form :)

This May I will be exhibiting at a major Trade Show called SURTEX, which takes place at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Centre in the magical city of New York! Surtex is a trade only event, where Buyers, Retailers, Art Directors, Agents, Manufactures and Designers from all over the world converge in a whirlwind of awesome artwork, talent and inspiration, with the sole purpose of creating amazing best selling products. Surface designs are sold and licensed for every product type imaginable: stationery, soft furnishings, tabletop, bedding, the list goes on....
I'm still working hard to continue creating new surface patterns and placement designs to show exclusively at the event and I'm loving every minute of it!
As well as meeting with potential customers and clients, I'm equally excited to catch up with other designers, some of whom I've met virtually and others I'll meet along the way. If you are exhibiting or walking the show, do drop me a note and I'll be sure to look out for you.
Art Directors and Manufactures etc can book appointments to view my portfolio & meet with me via the contact form or by emailing hello(at)natwillsdesign.com
Bye for now :)
5 things you may or may not know about me! Just for fun, here goes...
1. I'm from a lovely town in the UK called Huddersfield but have lived in Leeds, London, Southend and New York (well for a week but still counts, right?)
2. I start work by having a cup of tea and crackers (yes, I am in fact a 90 year old Nanna)
3. I like to play "Learn to Speak Spanish" audio books in the studio while I work. Si es my bien!
4. 2 Broke Girls makes me laugh like a crazed hyena in need of air.
5. When I'm at home working, 9 times out of 10 I have a sausage dog on my lap!
Go, on let's here about you!
Here's a little peak at one of the patterns I've created for a Mathematics theme. Featuring triangle, this lovely balanced geometric pattern is going to look great on a set of cushions!
